Venting

Ah! It's 4:30 am and my body has decided that it doesn't like sleep. I totally disagree with my body so I am trying to blog myself to sleep. Work will not be pretty tomorrow if this doesn't work.

Today started out great. I only worked for 4.5 hours and left for the much anticipated doctor's appointment in which my doctor was supposed to tell me how great things are going and that traveling to Texas at Christmas sounds like a great plan! (not the case, but that is for later in the blog). I got to drink orange soda and sit around reading magazines like Better Homes and Gardens that I don't feel I should waste my own money on (but I LOVE!) for a whole hour while waiting for a glucose blood test. Why I like blood tests, doctors, dentists, etc, I can't say except I really like being healthy and taken care of. It was bliss.

Following my blood test I made my way to Smith's for a flu shot (yay!). Again, not so sure why I love it and why the soreness in my arm makes my happy, but I was/am super excited that at least a few strains of the flu are no longer an issue in my future. I can't imagine how miserable flu and pregnancy combined could be. *shudder*

Then Corey and I took a little trip to Radio Shack to return some goods and get us some good ol' fashioned rabbit ears for our TV. While I can now get the news, I am somewhat dissatisfied. I now begin the venting.

I have to adjust the stupid rabbit ears EVERY TIME I CHANGE THE CHANNEL. It's not like I have 2 or three channels and have to adjust to see the others. I seriously have to adjust EVERY TIME. I am thinking that now I am going to invest in cable. This is ridiculous. For the price of the stupid rabbit ears I could pretty much get 3 months of cable. I bet I will easily spend 3 months of my life trying to get channels the way things are going now. Do I really need TV that much? Probably not, but it's great for being home alone (which, when you have a busy and smart husband heading for medical school and being on-call at work it is quite often) so you don't get lonely or scared. It's also good for falling asleep to as great background noise. It's also good company while cooking. And also a great informer of the world. You can watch the news and fold laundry at the same time. You can watch conference at home and not freak out when the computer feed is retarded. Oh TV, how I miss the free signal we were getting illegally without realizing it was illegal. *sigh*

And also, my doctor did NOT tell me what I wanted to hear today. I mean, everything with me and the boy is GREAT! Which, of course, is great news seeing as I was fretting a few days ago when I wasn't feeling the boy as much as usual. Things are back to normal in the movement department. BUT....doctor was not as nice in the vacationing department. Yes, I should be more concerned about the health and safety of my baby and me, and I am . I really am. I just want to be in Texas for Christmas!!!!!!!! It's my turn to be with my family this year. My little broski Cory will be home from his mission on Dec. 18th, Russell and family will be visiting Texas, and we will all be united for the last time in who knows how long. It's the big family photo event (which I don't even mind being explosively pregnant for!!). Soon Kevin will be on a missions too, I will be who knows where at medical school with Corey (hopefully), Russell and Aya may not make the trip to Texas in the same year we do, Cory could be married and working far away too. This means that the growing and changing of the family makes this the last BIG chance to all be together. And I am not supposed to really travel after Dec. 12th. WHAT?!?! How can you say that??!!?! Doctor doesn't know all the juice about why I want to go and I am too much of a wimp to insist that he say he will write me a letter of "ok" for the airlines right now, but couldn't he have just said, "Still sounds feasible to me." Instead he said, "I wouldn't really recommend traveling the last 4 weeks of your pregnancy. You will probably have the baby late your first time and kick yourself for not going, but it's better than having complications...etc. etc" I KNOW, I KNOW. He's right! But I REALLY want to go. The tickets are purchased! So my plan is as follows:

1. Show up to the airport on Dec. 17th (only 5 days into the 9th month) wearing one of Corey's sweatshirts (it'll be cold. I will totally pull it off).
2. Lie and say I am due in February instead of January (okay, lying is never a good plan, but can't it be just this once?)
3. If someone says I look farther along than that pull the, "I'm just really small so it just looks like I am about the explode! How rude of you to say I look big! I am totally offended! Let me on the plane you judgemental evil heads or I am never flying American again! Delta doesn't have any restrictions for pregnant women!"
4. Walk smugly onto the airplane, enjoy my festival of happiness and holiday cheer in Texas, and start the whole plan over again on the way home (Dec. 26th....17 days before my due date)

Do I sound convincing? I didn't think so. I am trying really hard to convince myself and it's not going so well. Boy am I frustrated. The boy will be worth it when he arrives but he really didn't time his "expected" arrival very well.

I am done venting now. I'm still not feeling tired though. Grrr. This is going to come back to haunt me at work tomorrow.....or today.
